Coventry City Council Phil Townsend has said that the Coventry City supporters made a difference in helping to bring the Sky Blues back to the Ricoh Arena.

Protests, marches, boycotts, use of the media and social networking tactics were all employed by City supporters in a bid to get Coventry City playing again in the Ricoh Arena and a deal has finally been struck between the lawyers of both parties which will see City back at the Ricoh starting next month for an initial two year period.

Speaking about the supporters action, Councillor Phil Townsend told the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert: “The fans made a difference. They have shown a committed dedication to trying to get the club playing back at the Ricoh where they should play.

“They have maintained their campaign throughout and they have kept the issue in the public eye.

“They have been one of the key pressure points in bringing the people involved to the table.”
