First City Game For Rushton

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's Championship game at Hull City on Saturday is Steve Rushton from Staffordshire.

The son of a Football League referee, Mr Rushton took up refereeing to earn some extra pocket money and help with his GCSE PE. He was an Assistant Referee before getting on the National List of Referees in 2007/2008.

This will be his tenth game of the season and his second Championship match. His last game was Cheltenham Town's 1-1 draw with Oxford United on Tuesday night. So far this season, he has issued 35 yellow cards and two reds.

Mr Rushton has not refereed a Coventry City or Hull City match before, so this will be a new experience for him.

The Assistants are Gary Beswick from County Durham and Steve Ross from Lincolnshire. The Fourth Official is Chris Akers from Yorkshire.
