Coventry City Chairman Tim Fisher has apologised to the City support who were at the Ricoh Arena to witness the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to non-league Worcester City.
Speaking on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire this morning, Mr Fisher said: "I must apologise to all the fans that turned up yesterday and saw that match because it was a mismatch. You had one team that were fired up and wanted to win and then we had Coventry City.
"In terms of embarrassment, yes we are embarrassed and we are very regretful. You heard Steven last night, he was speechless and I can tell you I was speechless and frankly we were appalled at the level of performance yesterday.
"However this is one result and we are turning the club around. Let's remember this is only one result and let's put everything in perspective.
"This is the FA Cup, and I don't want to take anything away from our opposition as they outplayed and outfought us for long parts but we have a longer term plan.
"This isn't about standing down and throwing your cards in, this is about standing up and being counted and that is what we are going to ask the players to do.
"We have an opportunity to get back on the pitch on Wednesday and we will be demanding of the players that they put in a performance that was lacking yesterday.
"I expect they will be motivated as we will be demanding of them. After their post-match analysis with Mr Pressley they will come with their tails between their legs and they will put in a shift. They are professionals.
"While it's absolutely right to be angry about yesterday's defeat, there are so many things to be positive about. the fact we have turned around the financials of the club, the fact we have an Academy that is quite frankly Championship in terms of standard, if you want to look at anybody who did a job yesterday it was the Cov Kids in that side that did a job on the pitch and that is the long-term vision.
"The responsibility sits with all the executives at the all and we are embarrassed but let's take this with perspective, in terms of financials then clearly you don't budget for a long cup run, you budget for the minimal income. But so we're all clear, and so the players are clear, the last two seasons, each cup run, we have made over £1million."
