Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Corey Addai, Callum Maycock, Jacob Whitmore, Jordan Shipley and Darragh Leahy have all agreed the professional contracts offered to them by the club.
Money was the main stumbling block but Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “They have all agreed now.
“We haven’t made improved offers so I think the penny has dropped and I think it’s important that they all give themselves a chance to be footballers now.
“We’re not in the business of taking a few pounds out of their pockets. The offers were made and were as much as we feel is correct for this football club at the level we’re at.
“These young boys are not earning a fortune but the secret is to give themselves the chance to be a footballer and let their talent take them where they want to go.
“Let’s hope they are good enough to play for Man United, Arsenal, Leicester, Tottenham, Chelsea... and if they are then those clubs will eventually come along and pay for them, and off they go.
“But at the moment they’re young boys who are not good enough to get into our team, so they need to give themselves a chance because there’s no guarantees that they can play in League One.
“The good thing is they have all agreed and hopefully we’ll get on in pre-season and the fans will come along and see all those young players in the team,” he said, “because the team in pre-season will be pretty scarce on numbers.
“We’ll probably have to build it up as we go along like we did this year and I am sure these young guys will be involved in the friendly games.”
