The Football League are advising supporters attending matches this weekend to arrive early.
Following the terror attack on a tube train in Parsons Green, London, for which Isis have claimed responsibility, one thousand troops are being deployed onto the streets to add to the numbers of police including armed police who will out and about.
After taking advice from the Police, the Football League have issued the following statement: "Following Friday’s terror attack on the London Underground, the EFL – on police advice – is requesting that all supporters planning to attend EFL matches this weekend arrive at the stadium as early as possible.
"The rationale behind this request is to reduce numbers in crowded areas and will be applicable to all public events taking place this weekend.
"The UK’s current terror threat remains at severe, meaning an attack is highly likely, but there is no specific intelligence to suggest that football is a target.
"Supporters attending matches this weekend are reminded to be vigilant at all times and stay alert, not alarmed.
"If anyone does spot anything suspicious then they should contact a member of the home club’s security staff or local police force immediately."
