Former Coventry City striker Marvin Sordell has agreed a new three year deal with Burton Albion.

Sordell had half a season with the Brewers after half a season with the Sky Blues and agreed a deal which will keep him at the Pirelli Stadium until June 2020.

Nigel Clough told the Press Association about Sordell: "The second half of the season he was a major reason in us staying up. The quality and consistency of his performances was excellent.

"We hope he will take it on again next season. He made a big impact when he came in in January so we are delight he will be with us for a few more seasons.

"When he's played in that league above in the Premier League we think he's got the confidence in his ability and we've certainly got it. Hopefully he will get a few more goals for us and have another good season.

"It's his versatility as well- the fact that he can play down the right-hand side like he did for us a number of times."

Former City loanee keeper Stephen Bywater has agreed a new on year deal with Burton Albion.

"I'm so excited and I'm very happy," Bywater, who made fourteen appearances for City in 2005, said to the Press Association.

"Once the manager said he'd like me to be here it was a no-brainer. I thought he should have got manager of the year so to play for someone who can do a job so fantastically then I want to be here.

"I just see it that the manager knows I've got the ability to play if I'm called upon. I'm professional and I keep myself fit and Martin Taylor looks after me. I trust him to manage me throughout the season so no matter what stage I'm called upon I'll be ready to go.

"He (manager, Nigel Clough) wants characters and he wants people who want to be part of a team and that's throughout the whole club. It feels like a family and I want to be part of that. I think it's exciting.

"All the squad are one and whoever the manager picks for certain games you go out there and you do your best for the club and that's the mentality that we have to have. It's not about individuals it's about being ready to play at 3 o'clock or 7.45 and out of the whole squad you're ready to play."
