Former Coventry City midfeilder Martin Jol has been forced to quit his managerial position at Al Ahly of Egypt due to threats to his safety.
Jol guided Al Ahly to the Egyptian title but they were knocked out of the African Champions League after drawing with Zambian club Zesco United.
The former Spurs and Fulham boss has received threats and had fans try to attack the team during training but did apologise for the exit and Al Ahly have said in a statement: "Jol has told us he will not be able to complete his contract (which another season and a half to run) for personal reasons.
"We have accepted that and ended the contract with him."
