Former Coventry City U21's player Leon Lobjoit has joined Northampton Town.

Lobjoit had been playing for Buckingham Town as a striker and was bangng in the goals before Northampton Town boss Justin Edinburgh invited the player who was a midfielder during his time with City, to train with them.

Speaking about Lobjoit who will not be a Northampton player until July 1st, Edinburgh told the Northampton Town club website:"We got Leon in for a few days and he trained very well.

"He played in a behind closed doors game and scored one goal and had a hand in the others and he looked a threat. Although Leon can't play until next season we thought it was important to conclude the signing quickly as we know there has been other interest in him.

"He has a phenomenal goalscoring record this season and his attitude since coming in has been first class. Leon knows this is an important opportunity for him and he is determined to take it.

"We are delighted to give a player performing brilliantly in non-league football locally a chance. We know he will be making a big jump up in standard so we will be patient with him but we feel he has got all the attributes to be a success and we look forward to working with him."
