As revealed on this site on Saturday night, England manager Fabio Capello has picked his squad for Wednesday's friendly against France and has chosen two former Coventry City players.
Jay Bothroyd, now at Cardiff and Sunderland's Jordan Henderson have been called up to the the senior squad.
Bothroyd played for Coventry City after joining the club from Arsenal in 2000 and played a total of 83 league and cup games scoring 17 goals. He left the club in 2003 to join Italian side Perugia when his contract expired.
Bothroyd has exhibited talent, but has also proved to have questionable motivation and poor discipline which may have held back his international career.
Jordan Henderson played for Coventry City while he was on loan from Sunderland in the early part pf the 2009 season. The young lad made a huge impression on the City supporters who took to the youngster in a big way.
Sunderland and Coventry agreed to extend the loan period for the rest of the season, but a broken metatarsal prematurely ended his time at Coventry and he only played 15 time for The Sky Blues and scored one goal.
When Steve Bruce and Eric Black were appointed to manage the Mackams, Henderson impressed them and any thoughts of a loan to Coventry were shelved as the winger was now in their first team every week. He has a five year deal and two improved pay deals.
