Former Coventry City striker Leon Best, who moved to Newcastle United on the last day of the January transfer window, has said he can't wait for the Premiership season to start and to test himself against the best players.
Best was Coventry City's leading scorer at the time of his departure to the north east, but since his move, he failed to find the net at all, prompting some Newcastle fans to question why he was bought in the first place.
Best did manage to get his first goal for his new club last Saturday in Newcastle's 3-0 defeat of Carlisle in a pre season friendly. Best score the opening goal and he is now in a confident mood ahead of the new Premiership campaign.
Best told the Jarrow and Hepburn Gazette: "I've played at League One, and scored a lot of goals, and last season I had a good spell. I'd love to test myself in the Premiership. I just need to give myself the best chance. If I keep scoring, it's going to open all the doors for me."
