Former Coventry City midfielder Lee Fowler has said that he feels sorry for the City support for what they have had to endure over the last twelve years.
Speaking to the Crawley News, Fowler, who will be a part of Crawley's team on Sunday which takes on City in a vital fixture said:"I had a few years there and played a few times in the Championship in some big games.
"I feel sorry for the fans and I have still got a lot of mates there in Coventry, but it has been a bit of a shambles."
Fowler knows he has a job to do for Crawley and said:"I would be happy to keep Crawley in the league.
"They pay my wages and I don't think there is any room for sentiment in football.
"I have to do a job for the club, but also for my family, the manager and myself.
"If the club goes down, the money goes down and the crowds go down, so it is important for us to stay in the division.
"As for me, there always seems to be a story and other chapters to be written, and if it happens, it happens.
"It doesn't matter who scores the goal though as long as we win the game and stay up."
