The Coventry to Bedworth railway line which runs past the Arena is more important for freight than it is for passengers. That is according to Transport Minister Derek Twigg who is reported by the CET as describing "the line as a key freight link and said the frequency of commercial trains may have to be increased in the future".

The three Coventry MPs had backed plans to use the line for commuters and the Council had set aside money for a station at the Arena.
Speaking to the CET MP Bob AInsworth said: "This is a blow to those who thought the line could be turned over for bus or light rail. I know the council had those hopes. Clearly this is not going to be the answer to the arena's transport problems in the foreseeable future."
