Coventry City Assistant Manager Tim Flowers has admitted his frustration at the lack of cash currently being made available for new players to himself and Iain Dowie.
Frustration For Flowers
"At the end of the day we can't do anything until we get some money," said the City supporter to the CT. "We have got people ready on the blocks and there is nothing we can do about it. So we are in the hands of whenever this takeover happens. "At the moment there is no budget so we can't pay for anyone. All we can do is sit and wait to see what happens, which is frustrating.
"We all met up last week with Iain Dowie, Paul Fletcher and finance director Mal Brannigan and looked at it, and we have got 17 players at the moment so we clearly need to get some bodies on the ground. "The goalkeeper, Dimi Konstantopoulos, is the only one we have got through the door. "We are still hopeful that we will get a budget by the end of the month or early July but that is the whole crux of it.
"But the danger is the longer it takes you wonder what will be left to deal with because as time moves on, players want to get themselves sorted out. "We have got major targets and we have got to hope that they are still around when we are ready to move.
"I have got to be honest, if we have to wait until January for some money it is going to be very hard work. "As far as I know the Robbie Simpson deal is going to tribunal and we have got to find players for the here and now because we need bodies on the ground for the pre-season and to start putting something together.
"Loans are a case of needs must and they will become quite vital to us in the interim. "When we first joined the club we contacted virtually every Premier League manager to see what was available as well as asking about specific players we had in mind. "But most said to ring back in the summer.
"Most are them are very good young players who would be an asset to anyone's squad. The trouble is, again, everyone else wants them. "But if there are loans and Bosmans going then we will have to do it but what we don't want to do is load up with people and then bang, the money comes in. "So we have got to be careful and it is a waiting game at the moment."
