FSF - Safe Standing Campaign

Last updated : 29 November 2012 By Football Supporters Federation

Fellow fan,

The safe standing campaign is really gathering momentum - more than 40 MPs have signed the Early Day Motion calling for pilot areas of safe standing in the top two divisions, while clubs like Aston Villa, Brentford, Bristol City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Hull City, Peterborough United, Watford and AFC Wimbledon have already come out publically and backed the campaign. We're grateful to those fans and groups who've written to their local MPs and raised awareness of the issue, and who've hosted events like the safe standing roadshow at their club.

We are contacting all our affiliate fan groups as well as individual fan contacts to ask them to find out from their clubs what their position on safe-standing is. Are they in favour of trials at your ground? Do they back the campaign in principle? Would they like to know more? The more support we can demonstrate from within the football industry, the greater our chances of convincing the government to allow safe standing trials. Adding to the list of X clubs who've already come out and backed us can only strengthen our position.

We'd appreciate if you could get in touch with the Chief Executive (or similar) at your club, and ask if they'd be willing to back Aston Villa and Peterborough's calls for small-scale trials of safe standing in the Premier League and Championship at their grounds.

We know that some clubs are easier to get in touch with and are better at dealing with their fans than others, but feel that questions and contact should come from within the fanbase if they are to be taken seriously.

If you need any help at all, perhaps in providing a ready-made statement that the club can agree to, or finding an appropriate point of contact, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We'd be happy to help.

Regards,

The FSF
