Former Coventry City loanee Gary Madine has been charged with assault.
He scored for Carlisle United on Saturday, hours after there were allegations of an incident at The Beehive Pub, close to Carlisle's Brunton Park ground on Friday night.
Cumbria Police have confirmed that the striker, who made nine first team appearances for Coventry City, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a spokesman from the police force told the News And Star: “He was released on conditional bail and is due at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on April 27.”
Madine has a year left on his contract and Carlisle United's media officer Andy Hall said: “There is an ongoing legal process and we have to await the outcome like everybody else.“An internal disciplinary process is in place.”
