Former Coventry City defender Stuart Pearce has been put forward to be the coach of the GB Olympic squad by Sir Trevor Brooking.
The 62 year FA's Director Of Football Development told the BBC that Pearce, the current England U21 coach, is the man for the job.
Brooking said: "I would like to support Stuart for the Olympics job because he knows all the players well,
"Having been there over the last four years he would be ideally placed to get the best out of that group.
"He is respected by all the lads in the squad. They seemed very relaxed around him at the training camp last week.
"It's something I think we'll look at when he gets back from this tournament."
The team is likely to made up of English players aged under 23 for this non-FIFA ranked tournament as the FA's of Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland are still refusing to commit players to the squad on the basis that it could affect their standing with FIFA.
