Southampton boss Nigel Adkins praised his side's character to come back and take all three points in a 4-2 win at Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to the Press Association, Adkins said: "We were good in the first half, we played some extremely good football, came away from home and totally dominated the first half and scored two good goals.
"At half-time we talked about concentrating from the beginning and low and behold within the first minute we gave a very spirited Coventry side an opportunity to score. One of our players had not marked the goalscorer, and it gives them a bit of a lift and the home crowd a bit of a lift.
"Great credit to our players, we changed our formation, Danny Fox put in a fantastic cross for Guly Do Prado to score, we got our noses back in front, we changed our formation again and we saw the game out.
"We have showed that character away from home and to go and win and it is pleasing.
"The strategy was to make sure we were still in the race come January and we are leading the race and we want to stay there."
