Jack Grimmer said it was a fantastic day for Coventry City as the Sky Blues beat Stoke City 2-1 to move into the FA Cup Fourth Round.
Grimmer scored City's second goal and told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “It was a fantastic day for the club which you could see from the scenes at the end.
“I cut inside and looked up to maybe cross it to the back post so it maybe surprised Butland when I hit the shot and it nestled in the bottom corner.
“I think they were maybe expecting a cross but I have thought to myself before that if I get in those positions then I will try to let loose, and luckily it went in. Sometimes we try to take an extra touch and try to walk the ball in the back of the net in the league when really we could shoot.”
“It’s easy to forget he was England’s No.1. He’s an excellent goalkeeper so that’s the cherry on top for me.
“It took me a while to sink in and if a photographer got my reaction on camera he would just see pure surprise, but it was an incredible feeling and one I have had before in the FA Cup, and long may that continue.”
