Gunnarsson Captain's Iceland As They Knock Out England

Former Coventry City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson captained Iceland in their Euro 2016 Round Of Sixteen 2-1 win against England who started with former City youngster Danny Sturridge.

With a number of City supporters in the ground in Nice, In the third minute, Raheem Sterling was brought down by the Icelandic keeper and Wayne Rooney scored the resulting penalty.

Two minutes later, Gunnarsson took a throw in and Sigurdsson swept home to equalise.

In the 18th minute, Iceland had a second goal when a Kolbeinn Sigthorsson shot managed to get past Joe Hart and into the net.

England had the better of the chances but could not get the goals and went out of the competition with Roy Hodgson resigning as England manager after the match.
