Coventry City's Iceland international midfielder Aron Gunnarsson will be this years Guest of Honour at the annual Russell Ascroft Memorial Football Day at Coventry Copsewood later this month.
The event is for veteran players from four local clubs, Coventry Sphinx, Alvis, Massey Ferguson and an ANC Select XI who will compete in the in the over-35's competition,the winner of which will receive the shield which was named in memory of Russell Ascroft, who died from leukaemia two years ago.
The tournament is on Sunday, April 17th at Allard way and play starts at 1pm.
There is also an under 19's competition for the Junior Shield and will be contested by Copeswood A and B, Sphinx and Coventry Saracens.
Russell's brother, Martin (pictured at last year's event), said, "We are looking to raise as much as we can on the day and donate all to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Research."
"Aron has kindly said he will there, along with Russell's family, to present the shields, to the winners and stay around for photos and autographs after."
