The left back, in his testimonial year, said to the CT: "I'm chuffed to bits. "I spoke to the manager a couple of weeks ago to see where I stood because I obviously didn't want to be faced with a mad scramble to find a new club if he was going to let me go at the end of the season.
"I said to him that I didnt want the fact that I am in my testimonial season to cloud his judgement. The last thing i wanted to seen as is a charity case.
"I do like a joke and a laugh with the lads and like to have an influence in the dressing room but I still want to be taken seriously as a player and want to be judged on what I can bring to the squad in terms of my playing ability.
"I feel as fit as I ever have and feel I still have a lot to offer so I am really pleased to be told that I will be offered a new contract.
