Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole after the game, the signing from Everton said: "I asked for the ball. It was handed to me and I was more than happy to take it. I'm always confident that I can score from that range, and it got me off the mark which is great because you want your first goal as quickly as possible.
"We managed to pick up a point that we probably didn't deserve which is very important in this league and in the end we nearly nicked it because we had the momentum and the fresh legs.
"The manager made substitutions at the right time and they were a huge factor in us turning things round.
"That's going to help during the season but he still gave us a good talking to which we deserved."
