Former Coventry City striker John Hartson, who is recovering from cancer has said he would jump at the opportunity to manage Wales.
Although Hartson has no managerial experience, he told Talk SPORT he would be interested in taking on the job.
The speculation surrounding the Wales managerial post arose after Wales' Euro 2021 qualifying game 1-0 defeat to Montenegro last week and current manager John Toshack admitting he will be quitting as national team boss.
When asked about his interest in the forthcoming vacancy, Hartson said:, "Absolutely. There's nobody that will be more committed and more Welsh than I am.
"If it was offered to me then obviously I would seriously, seriously think about it. There maybe one or two candidates out there that come before me, I may have to wait my turn, maybe three or four years down the line, but if you're asking me if I would take the job, absolutely. You'd have to be a fool to turn down the national manager's job."
Chris Coleman, who was sacked as Coventry City manager at the end of last season, is also considered to be a strong candidate to be Toshack's successor.
