Coventry City this afternoon signed Colin Hawkins on an eighteen month contract. The Centre Half was harshly released by City nearly ten years ago but re-joined after leaving Irish side Shelbourne who have financial problems.
Hawkins Rejoins
"I arrived over for a two-day trial and I was obviously impressed by the stadium, Adrian Heath and the whole coaching staff so it was up to me to show what I could do on the pitch and luckily everything's worked out and I'm delighted that I signed an 18-month contract, " said the 29 year old to the club website.
"It's a great stadium and looking at the teams we've got coming up it's a huge challenge for me personally. I know we have experienced a few defeats recently but having seen the quality in the squad I know it will take just one win to change things.
"There is no reason why we should be down there for too much longer and I'm hoping to play my part in turning things around if the manager gives me a chance. "I'm coming here to do as good a job as possible. I know there's been a few goals conceded recently so I can hopefully play my part and inspire a few other people around me - I've always been known as being a bit of a leader on the pitch - that's what I'm looking to bring to the team.
"They've done their best to get my fitness levels up. They've tried everything in training and really put me through my paces. It was like my first day of pre-season training to be honest on Tuesday. If I'm given the opportunity to play against Luton I'll definitely be up for it. "
