Hignett returns to Blackburn

City boss Gary McAllister had been hoping to secure Hignett on a permanent basis and first thoughts were that Hignett had damaged ankle ligaments during Saturday's game with Sheffield United.

Hignett had agreed to extend his spell at Highfield Road but after the scan it was revealed he will be sidelined for at least a month and so he has returned to Ewood Park.
