Coventry's Muffin Man Steve Hine earned himself a second round showdown with world number one and defending Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts champion Phil Taylor after beating Holland's Roland Scholten in his opening round match this afternoon at Alexandra Palace.

The 40-year-old baker and world number 49 entered the arena dressed as a chef and tossed muffins into the crowd before coming back from two sets down to win 3-2. "It's the best Christmas present I could have had," said Hine who takes on 14-time World Champion Taylor in the second round a week on Sunday.

"It's a dream come true to play Phil and I can't wait. It's my third World Championship and the first time I've won a game so it feels fantastic - it's like a raffle ticket to stardom because now I get to play the Guv'nor!"

Coventry's other entry in this year's Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship Steve Beaton plays his first round match with Spain's Carlos Rodridguez on Tuesday evening.
