An Arena Coventry Limited spokesman has told the Coventry Telegraph, that they understand that Coventry City Holdings Ltd did not employ the players.

Their statement is as follows:  “We are aware of the statement made today by the joint administrator.

"This is a normal and expected part of the administration process, which we are continuing to monitor closely, although as the major unconnected creditor we were surprised to hear today’s news via the media and not directly from Mr Appleton himself.

"At this time the ACL Board has not received any proposals from the joint administrator relating to a voluntary agreement for creditors.

"Once this documentation is received the ACL Board will give it necessary consideration and state its position at a time of its own choosing.

“The Board also wishes to point out the fact that CCFC (Holdings) Ltd did not employ the Sky Blues players as per the most recent set of accounts filed for the business reporting upon the financial year ending 31 May 2011, signed off by BDO as an independent auditor on 20 June 2012.

"On the basis of this publicly available information, Mr Appleton’s statement today is not entirely factually accurate.”
