Coventry City Council will discuss plans for a 120-bedroom hotel plus a health and fitness centre at the Arena on Tuesday. Arena Coventry Ltd are in talks with a major hotel chain about opening on the site and will cover the £700,000 costs of opening the health centre, with the Council playing Coventry Sports Trust £65,000 a year to run it.
Hotel & Fitness Centre Planned For Arena
Meanwhile, the City Council will restore archways under the railway line which runs through the complex to develop links to the Arena from the rest of the development and is half the cost of building a footbridge.
"Providing a connection between the two parts of the site would mean everything's in place for a future station," Council Chief Ken Taylor said to the Coventry Observer.
"It will also make it easier for people leaving or arriving at the Arena for big events. "We're now at a very exciting stage of development at the Arena where we can begin to see all the original plans and ideas begin to take shape."
