Coventry City historians are trying to track down medals which were sold back in March at an auction in Leamington.
The medals belonged to Singers player Thomas Bird, who played for the club which won the Birmingham Junior Cup and Walsall Junior Cup in 1892.
The medals are wanted to go in a new museum at Coventry City's Ricoh Arena home.
Speaking to the CT, Lionel Bird (no relation) said: "Thomas Bird made a significant contribution to the early history of Coventry City Football Club.
"I am working on a proposal, in conjunction with the Coventry City Former Players Association, to establish a museum at the Ricoh Arena and it would be a fitting tribute to display the medals there."
Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of the medals, can contact Lionel on 07972 309114.
