Coventry City defender Chris Hussey has publicly issued a plea to the club board not to sack manager Andy Thorn.
Hussey joined the Sky Blues from AFC Wimbledon last year, but insists that the blame for the parlous league position of Coventry City is not the fault of Thorn or his assistant Steve Harrison. He firmly believes that the team has the ability to get the results they need to climb away from the relegation zone.
Speaking to the CT, Hussey said, “I have seen some people criticise Thorny and H (Harrison) but they are the two best people I have ever worked with and I am sure most of the boys would say the same thing.
“Thorny is brilliant, H is brilliant and they put so much time and effort into training the boys. I feel so sorry for Thorny because we are doing all the right things but just not getting the luck.
“As results go on, inevitably, boards get twitchy and some managers don’t even last this long when they are on a bad run, but I urge the board to stick with Thorny. The results might not show it but he’s a really good manager and we have some great guidance from H as well.
“We are in this together. We are not a group of individuals, we win as a team and lose as a team, and it is Thorny who has created that togetherness, just like it was in his Wimbledon days.
“He’s had no help. Loads of players left in the summer and we can’t do anything about that but he’s done a really good job with what he’s got. I think he deserves a lot of praise for everything he has done in the short space of time he’s been here.
"Everyone knows on the training ground that we are doing the right things and the manager is doing the right things and I really, really hope that nothing happens and that the club stick with the manager.
“We’re all pulling in the right direction and as you can see when we play games we’re creating good chances and just don’t seem to be putting them away.
