Marcus Tudgay has said that he cannot see his goal at Walsall changing the opinion of Coventry City CEO Steve Waggott and Manager Steven Pressley to let him leave when his one year contract expires in the summer or beforehand if he can find another club.
Tudgay scored at Walsall with a simple header after having a penalty saved in the 2-0 win and told Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph: “I can’t see one goal changing an opinion.
“It’s been a roller coaster week for me. I was in the gaffer’s office on Monday, we had a conversation and, basically, I had no career left here.
“We all felt it was right for me to move on but football being football, Gary Madine took a knock on Friday morning and I was straight in.
“This might be my last game, who knows, but the one thing I will say is I always give 110 per cent when I am out there. It might not always go the way I want it but I’ll always work my socks off.
“I’ve been here a long time, six months or so, and I can’t become a bad player and then suddenly a good player again overnight. They’ve made it clear that they can’t give me football from January onwards and that’s it – I’m man enough to get on with it and not sulk.
“I’ve not sulked once since I have been here, just waited in line to get a run-out. Today I got that and I felt I did myself justice.
“Whatever way you want to look at it, getting a goal is good because other clubs might be watching, but the first thing in my thoughts was getting three points for the team.
“I’m contracted here for the season so unless I am told differently that I am not going anywhere – but I had a conversation with the manager and Steve Waggott and in my opinion I will be moving on."
