Francis Laurent has said that he does not know why Coventry City did not give him a contract last season.
The French winger who has signed a one year deal with now Conference side side Lincoln City, came on trial to City last pre-season and even played a bit part in a pre-season game. However, nothing came of a deal and being without a club, he returned to his native France.
Laurent told This is Lincolnshire: "I was about to sign in the Championship last summer, but that did not happen so I had to return to France for a couple of months.
"I don't know what happened at Coventry.
"When I was there, the manager (Aidy Boothroyd) told me he wanted to sign me and Steve (Tilson) told him I had a good attitude.
"Then it did not happen and that is hard when you think you are going to the Championship.
"In the end, I went to Cardiff on trial and scored three goals in the reserves but they did not sign me.
"At the end of the day, what does not kill you makes you stronger."
