Coventry City loanee Ben Turner said that he enjoyed his debut.
Turner who scored for City in their 4-1 win over Gillingham which put them top of League One, received a big ovation when he was announced in the team line up and another when he was replaced after 57 minutes.
“I enjoyed my debut,” Turner said to the Coventry Telegraph's Anfy Turner.
“I was in my house last night thinking ‘wouldn’t it be great to score?’ You don’t really expect it to happen but I attacked the ball the best I could and it was great to get a goal.
“I have got to be honest, this is a very, very good team. I was at the back there in the first half doing my bit and I was proper impressed, more than I thought I’d be.
“Everyone was so good on the ball, so at it and a team with players who can run with the ball and players who can score goals. Obviously it’s nowhere near the end of the season and there’s a lot of work to be done but it’s a squad that could really be going places with the football they play.
“You could see the Gillingham players just didn’t know what had hit them in the first half with the pace and tempo of the team.
“By halfway through the first half I thought to myself, ‘it’s just a matter of keeping the door shut because the lads at the other end will do the business.
“I was wondering about that. I’ve obviously never played for Cov in League One but on that performance that’s just about the best performance I’ve ever been involved in at this club; the way the ball was moving around, the tempo and determination.
“The first half was just a really good performance to be involved in; one of the best I’ve ever played in.
“It’s only one game for me but that was a proper performance, make no mistake about that.”
