Coventry City defender Cyrus Christie has admitted that it is because of the injury to his friend and team-mate Jordan Clarke that he has had his chance in the first team.
Speaking to the CT, Christie who has been a revelation at right back in his matches so far, said: I felt very sorry for Jordan because we’re good mates on and off the pitch but you could say it was a lucky break for me.
"Although I thought I could perhaps be pushing for a first-team place I’m sure Jordan would have started if he had been fit but now that I’ve stepped up and showed what I can do I’ll try as hard as I can to keep that position.
“He’s been very supportive to me but when he comes back we’ll be fighting for the place and that will be tough competition because he’s a great player.”
