Coventry City travel to Reading on Saturday to take on the mid table team that has scored three or more goals on five separate occasions so far this season at their Madjeski Stadium.
City lost badly 3-0 in the corresponding fixture last season and Boothroyd is determined that the same will not happen again, but his side will be up against many of the same players, like Jimmy Kebe and Jobi McAnuff who cause so much damage to the Sky Blues defence last Jimmy Kebe and Jobi McAnuff who tore into them last April.
Boothroyd explained to the CT: "Obviously I have worked with Jobi who I bought from Palace for £2 million when I was at Watford, so I know what he is capable of but I also know what his weaknesses are. So we will be making sure, as always, we have a game plan in place and we make sure we exploit their weaknesses."
"They have scored a few goals at home and they certainly play attacking football and have got some very good players in the team. They have got a variety of different players and talent and they will be difficult opposition."
Boothroyd has a high opinion of his opposite number at Reading Brian McDermott. He said of the Royals boss: "I like Brian a lot. I get on with all the managers but he's terrific because he's such a genuinely humble man. There are no airs and graces about him and he treats everyone the same as when he used to be chief scout."
"He knows the circuit and is very, very good at what he does. And what I know is that it will be a really tough game on Saturday because he doesn't mess about and he's a guy who I have a lot of respect for."
"It will be a difficult game but we have managed to grind out results and that's what we have got to continue to do because December and January will be crucial to our season."
