Scunthorpe United manager Russ Wilcox thought that his side answered all the questions posed by Chairman Peter Swann and the suppporters during the 2-1 win over Coventry City.
“I think we answered a few questions tonight, which is always pleasing,” Wilcox told the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Chris Sumpter.
“I was never in doubt about the group. We had a disappointing half hour on Saturday, very disappointing. But I knew my group was fully behind me and my staff and I knew I’d get a response, which I certainly did.
“I think was more than three points, just for different reasons. Nobody wants to be down the bottom of the league, but it is still early. That three points tonight nudges us up a little bit and brings Doncaster and a few others a bit closer to us.
“If we can manage to get back to back wins, or even a positive result on Saturday, and keep the scoreboard ticking along, it gives you belief and the players confidence.
“I’m delighted with the group. It was a testing game tonight, mentally more than physically really after the weekend.
“People questioned what we had got under our shirt and I think the lads showed tonight what we are about – fantastic commitment, endeavour and quality as well.”
