Coventry City manager Andy Thorn thought that his Sky Blues side did enough to win during the 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town.
Speaking to Sky Blue Player's Nick Connoll, Thorn said: "It was a typical opening day, it was really hot and I'm pleased to get underway. You come away from home and you come back with a point you have to be pleased with that but to be fair I thought we did enough to win the game.
"I think we have the players to go to away grounds and get results. We stuck in there, it was a poor goal to concede, but we'll go away and start to prepare for Saturday."
The City boss also took the time to praise goalscorer McDonald's tireless performance upfront which was almost rewarded with a late winner only for the striker to blaze over the bar in injury time.
"I thought Cody was absolutely excellent, he worked really hard and to be fair he could have had four today. He got brought down for a penalty shout and he had that late chance.
"I was really pleased with the delivery for the goal as well because you can do all the runs in the world but it only works if the ball is delivered properly and Fleck can put it on a sixpence."
