Coventry City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has said that he wants to do everybody proud if he plays for the Republic Of Ireland against Macedonia in a Euro 2012 Qualifier on Saturday night in Dublin.

All of Westwood's five caps have come in friendly matches and with Shay Given injured, this will be the chance for the City keeper to shine.

Speaking to the FAI website, Westwood said: "It will be a fantastic honour to play, if selected, and I'll want to do everybody proud,

"I've played a few friendly matches so far and this competitive game would be the next step.

"I understand that it's going to be a daunting but I'll play my own game and hopefully everything goes well.

"I spoke to Shay Given when he suffered his injury and he wished me the best of luck. He's a great fella and a goalkeeper I've learned so much from since I've come onto the international scene.

"Shay had dominated the goalkeeping situation for last 10 years plus but he's helped me in any way he can.

"He was always a goalkeeping hero of mine, along with Tony Coton because I was a big Manchester City fan."

Marco Tardelli added: "I think the goalkeeper is very good. "Obviously, Shay Given is a very good player. Westwood is younger but he has good experience."

Former Coventry City striker Leon Best is out of the squad. He has been forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury.
