Carsley joined the Sky Blues from Birmingham City this morning for a second time on a one year deal after his contract at St Andrews expired.
"I think hopefully I can bring a bit of consistency and be a good example around the place as to how I prepare for games and the way I play," said Carsley to the CT.
"This is the tenth season since Coventry went down from the Premier League and I don't think they have performed consistently well in the Championship.
"I don't say you have to set the league alight but you have to be in there competing at the right times and perhaps that's something the club has looked at."
