I was fortunate enough to see Steve Mokone play at least twice for Coventry City – both home league games in 1956-57.
His debut was a 0-1 home defeat against Millwall (att 20,000) and the other game I saw him play was a 4-1 Home victory against Gillingham (att 16000) when he scored a goal in the Spion Kop End and ran into the net , picked up the ball and took it back to the centre spot.
I did not see much more of him but remember both of those matches as he lit up a very lack lustre season under veteran manager Harry Warren.
Like every shooting star, he has faded and move on.
