Local Coventry & Warwickshire footballing legend Ian Crawley was remembered on FA Cup Final day with a memorial match.

Crawley, the first player to score in both the FA Vase and FA Trophy Finals at Wembley, sadly passed away due to Motor Neurone Disease in July 2008 at the age of 49 and is remembered every year with a football match, named the Crawley Cup.

The match organised by Chris Salter, took place at the Alan Higgs Centre and saw many friends and playing colleague's of Ian's all paying to play in a match with all monies raised going to the Coventry Charity Cup which donates cheques annually to seventeen Coventry & Warwickshire based charities worth more than £10,000.

As for the forty minutes each way match itself, Chris Salter's team went into a two goal lead with a 13th minute penalty and a superb lob lob eighteen minutes later.

A 46th minute penalty saw the yellow team pull one back before a great move down the right ten minute later and a neat finish brought a third goal for the white team in a game played at a very good tempo.

It was 4-1 with a curler in the 66th minute and although the yellow team scored again two minutes from time with a smart finish, the local legend that was Ian Crawley was remembered with a highly entertaining game.
