Speaking to the CT, Mr Ranson said he was confident that City would do well in what will be a very tough division following the relegation of Newcastle and Middlesbrough on Sunday: "Newcastle are a massive club, a fantastic club. "I am sure they will regroup and be a force in the Championship - that's a definite.
"Middlesbrough are also a big club but will them coming down make it harder to get out of the Championship? Not really.
"Both will have to undergo major restructuring and it is a question of how they do that. "I like to think that we are a long way down the line in doing that and we have stability.
"We are 18 months into our restructuring and if we get the type of players we want this summer then I am confident we can have a good season next year.
"Newcastle and Middlesbrough will have a lot of turmoil and I am not betting on them being absolute certs for promotion straight back up.
"It can be a huge shock to big clubs when they come down and it all depends on their plans and the players that come and go. "You only have to look at what has happened to the Charltons, Norwichs and Southamptons of the world over a short period of time, so there is a lot of work to be done over the summer.
"West Brom will not have the same turmoil. "I imagine they will keep their manager, Tony Mowbray, who has done a great job there and I am sure they will tweak a few things. "They know this league very well and I believe they will be one of the favourites next year."
