Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is conscious of not making excuses for the team after they were beaten 3-1 by Doncaster Rovers at the Ricoh Arena.

Mowbray told Sky Sports:  "We looked like we were going to continue from the previous two games, we looked a decent team with a goal threat, but we were unrecognisable in the second half.

"I am conscious of not making excuses for the team, but there are one or two who look fatigued, so we thought that rather than leaving an hour or so, we'd make the change at half-time.

"I don't think that impacted too much on the events that unfolded. We were trying to find a way through that second half to have a work ethic and have players in the right positions, with energy.

"You have to trust your squad, but the substitutions didn't work because we lost the game.

"We didn't play in the areas of the pitch in the second half that we needed to.

"I think we've been pretty good out of possession since I've been here, but we played into their hands by messing about with it too close to our goal."
