Marcus Tudgay has said that he is at Coventry City to play not just pick up his wages.
Tudgay started against Walsall due to a knee injury to Gary Madine and after having a penalty saved, scored just before the end of City's 2-0 win at Walsall.
Speaking to Keiran Crowley, Tudgay, who is on a year contract and has been told that he can find another club said: "I am here to play, not to come and collect my wages as people have stated, that is last thing I would ever do.
"I could've gone out on loan but I said to the manager I want to fight for my place. That's what I've done and I've trained just as hard in training whether I'm playing or not, injuries happen and they've happened today so I've managed 90 minutes and I want to keep playing."
