New signing Joe Murphy has said that he is not expecting to be the number one keeper at Coventry City.
Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Murphy who joined as a free agent after his Scunthorpe United contract expired, said: "I'm not coming here assuming I'm going to be number one. Hopefully I can be and I will work my hardest to be number one but competition for places is important and that's no different here.
"The gaffer's trying to breed that and I'm going to be fighting for my place.
"I know the has got a great set up here and it was important for me to go to a club that is going to push for things. It's a massive club with a massive history and hopefully we can make something happen this year."
Murphy who enjoyed a good rapport with the City supporters at Glanford Park when City won 2-0 last season is also looking forward to working with goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic and he said: "It's always good to train and be trained by someone who has been at the highest level for such a long time. He's got masses of experience which can only help me and I've really enjoyed the first session with him".
