Is This The End For Coventry City?
Coventry City now appear in grave danger of going into administration or folding entirely if the take-over does not go ahead.
Paul Fletcher summed up the bad news and has called for the Coventry City Council to save the club by lowering the amount they want for theri share in the Ricoh Arena. Said City's MD: "We are at a very important moment in Coventry City's history and until we have some like-minded people sat round the table who are going to say, 'right, how can we get a stable football club?' we have got problems,.
"Forget about the past deals, we know what the situation is and do we really want the council to be making loads of money out of the Ricoh Arena? "Do we really want Arena Coventry Ltd (who run the stadium) making loads of money out of the Ricoh Arena, and do we want a football club that's second rate and will be forever more?"
"They could say that what they need is a football club that is clean and maybe there is an appetite for allowing the football club to just go to the wall and then a new football club would come on board and take things forward.
"Maybe there's a game plan out there that no one has told us about. I don't see the sense in that and I believe administration would be disastrous."
"The club needs new owners. "It has gone as far as it can go and the current directors have gone as far as they can go. We can't trade our way out of this problem. "When the Manhattan group came on board, they thought it would be a faster process than this and have been frustrated by how slow it has been.
"And maybe it is because the three or four parties involved have all kept their cards very closely to their chests and have not been as free with information as they should be.
"They are probably, and quite rightly, all doing what's best for their organisation, but unfortunately little old Coventry City, which is in the middle of all this, has suffered and will continue to suffer. "Under this current arrangement with the Ricoh Arena has been great for everyone involved in it apart from Coventry City Football Club. "We are the one's who it doesn't work for.
"It works for everyone else but it doesn't work for us and unless something changes then we are not in control of the future."
