Coventry City manager Andy Thorn was a pleased man with how the first week's of pre-season training has gone.
With the City players home and having a weekend off, following the week's training at the Vale de Lobo complex in the Algarve, Thorn told the CT's Andy Turner: "We have got all the work in that we wanted to and have just progressed and progressed, so it has been a terrific first week.
"The lads will freshen up over the weekend and then we will get back on it next week and step things up again. Everyone has trained and really worked their socks off, working harder and harder every day and they have taken it all on board which is good.
"There is a good craic among them while they are working and I don't think they realise how hard they are working at times, but we do and when they go to bed straight after dinner that's when they realise how hard they are working.
"We will get back into play mode next week and then work towards our first friendly and that will just be an opportunity to give everyone a bit of game time and that's when we will start working on our match stuff.
"We are going to play a game between ourselves on Tuesday just to get a bit of game time and they are usually quite interesting because they can be quite competitive.
"We had to put the reins on them on Thursday because it was starting to get a bit lively, so it is a question of bottling it up a bit and keeping it and then releasing it at the right time."
