The moving of Coventry City's opening Championship game of the season against Ipswich Town to Sunday August 9th for the purposes of Sky TV and the subsequent moving of the League Cup home tie against Hartlepool United to Wednesday August 12th has caused problems for some City supporters.
On the night of August 12th, England are to play Holland in a friendly in Amsterdam and a good number of City supporters have already paid for their flights and accommodation for their trip to the Netherlands and will now have to miss the Sky Blues match.
If competing with the England game which will be live on tv and knowing that some of your loyal match going supporters who would have been there if it had been on the Tuesday can't now make it, wasn't bad enough, other International matches on the same night mean that City could be without Leon Best and Keiren Westwood if they are called up for the Republic Of Ireland squad to face Australia as well as possibly Aron Gunnarsson for Iceland if they have a friendly.
The fault must surely lie with the Football League who must have known that there were international fixtures planned for this midweek. International footballers play in all three divisions of the Football League not just the Premier League and it is at times like this, that one has to ask if the League really do support their member clubs in this competition?
Tickets for the game against Hartlepool United are on sale from the usual outlets. They are priced at £12 adults and £6 concessions.
