Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Conor Thomas' future depends on how he fares in the next month.
Thomas is due to play for City U21's against Brentford next Monday or against Hull City on Thursday and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph about Thomas who is out of contract at midnight on June 30th and has missed most of the season with a hip growth issue, Mowbray said: “He’s in his agent’s hands and there’s potential for them to tout him around and see if people like him.
“It works both ways with people out of contract. You’re either looking to protect your asset or they’re looking to move on.
“At some stage at this club Conor was very highly thought of, went to Liverpool on a trial basis. I can only judge on what I have seen with my eyes and for different circumstances, for whatever reason, he’s never managed to get up to speed for me, whether that was injury, concussion or whether I didn’t feel he achieved the levels in training.
“Let’s see how he gets on in the next month for a start.
“I have to look at the market.
“Is Conor the best player we can get for the money that we might offer, or is there someone else out there who can do the job better?
“Is a fresh start best for everyone, all of those questions really. So I’ll sit down with his advisors at the end of the season and see what his options are and see what they think.
“A change can sometimes be for the best and yet he must have been doing something right to have been so highly thought of here.”
