Lee Carsley has admitted he has enjoyed the last year since he retired from playing.
The former midfielder has seemlessly made the transition from player to coach, coaching the U18's under the guidance of Academy boss Greg Ricoh and working with the reserves from September before taking charge of their behind closed doors friendlies after Christmas.
Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Carsley said: “I really have enjoyed the last 12 months and I said when I first came back to the club that I had unfinished business at Coventry and I feel I can help out in some small way because I was part of the team that got relegated from the Premier League and that was the start of the downward slide. But hopefully that has stopped now and we can move forward.
“It has been a real year of transition for me personally, getting used to being a coach and setting a team up and tactics and things which has been quite difficult at times, but Gregor Rioch and Rich Stevens have been fantastic to work with, as well as all the rest of the Academy coaches.
“Thorny got me doing the reserve team after Christmas which was a big plus for me so I have really enjoyed the season on that level and am just looking forward to a brighter future for the club.”
